Printer Options For Your iPad

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Unless you live under a rock, you've heard about the iPad. With all of its bells and whistles, the iPeople forgot one vital component - the ability to print to any printer. Fortunately, iPad printing applications are now being introduced for printer users like you. Let's take a look at a few iPad printing options for your printer.

For Epson printers

If you use an Epson printer, you can print from your iPad using the Epson iPrint application. Initially released for the iPod, iPrint can now be used with an iPad over a WiFi connection. Epson users can get iPrint at no cost from the App Store.

For Canon Printers

If you want to print photos from your iPad to a wireless Canon printer, use the free Canon application called Easy Photo-Print for iPhone. Unfortuantely, this app will only print photos, not text.

For HP Printers

HP has a comparable free iPad app called HP iPrint Photo.

For Lexmark Printers

Lexmark printer users can use an iPad printing app called Air Sharing HD. The app costs 10 dollars and does not work with PCs - just Macs. Air Sharing HD does not access files straight from your iPad. Rather, the app communicates with a server (e.g. email account) to print a document. In other words, you can email an iPad document to yourself and then open it in Air Sharing HD to print. This app was compatible with Lexmark and Epson printers, but had difficulties printing on an HP.

Lexmark users can also purchase a $3 direct printing app called ePrint. Again, this one is for Mac users only.

Other iPad Printing Options

One of the more well-known iPad printing applications is PrintCentral, by EuroSmartz. This app will print from any printer, including your, to a PC over a wireless connection. PrintCentral costs 10 dollars at the App Store and allows you to print web pages, images, and contacts.

These printer users can also buy Print Magic by Wellala, Inc., for $7 at the App Store. This app allows users to print text, graphics, and web pages from your iPad.

How to Save on Printer Ink

Now that printing is increasingly accessible for iPad users, many printer users are looking for ways to save on printing expenses. The best way to decrease printing costs is to nix those expensive store-bought printer Cartridges, and buy remanufactured printer Cartridges instead.

Let's consider an example. A typical black printer cartridge costs around $25 from an office supply store. A remanufactured black printer cartridge, however, will only cost around $12 from a reliable online supplier. That's half the price - plus a satisfaction guarantee!

Remanufactured Cartridges will not only save money, they also help the environment by reducing consumer waste. Consumers can feel good about using remanufactured printer Cartridges because they are recycled. You'll also feel good when you see that a remanufactured cartridge works just as well, and lasts just as long, as a store-bought cartridge for double the price!

Lower Printer Ink Costs

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Why Does printer Ink Cost So Much?

I know people who buy new printers just because of the high cost of printer ink! Sometimes, they find a printer that is more economical to use. Other times, they figure that the cost of a new printer with an ink supply will be cheaper than buying new ink supplies. So how can the price of printers be dropping while the cost of ink stays high?

Low Priced Printers Hook Consumers

I assume that companies hook consumers by keeping the price of printers low so they can compete in the market. They know they can recoup their profits when the buyer has to replenish their ink supply! I have seen inexpensive printers for $50 in the store. Those printers required ink refills that cost $35! They attracted customers to purchase by the low cost of the printer, but made their profit as the consumers needed to by ink refills.

Don't cell phone companies do the same thing? They hand out free phones, but force their customers to sign a monthly service contract which can last for years. If you try to get out of your cell phone contract before the end date you may have to pay a large penalty so the cell phone company makes sure they can profit on every single free cell phone they hand out!

Printer Research Costs Large Companies Billions of Dollars

Let's be fair. High quality ink does cost a lot to make, and major players spend millions of dollars every year on research. The task of developing inks that work with today's complex computer printers requires Ph.D. chemists and years of research. In addition, studies have shown that name brand ink does tend to work better than generic copies. There is no point in using cheap ink if will smear on the paper or dry out in the cartridge.

Photo Printing and Image Management With Your Printer

    Image : http://www.flickr.com

Photo printing, as pro photographers know, is a potential minefield of quality issues. The technical side of printing needs some attention to detail. This is actually pretty straightforward when you know how, but the real risk is a series of trial and error prints that just waste time, paper and ink. You can get this right before you hit "Print". You can also get very good deals on ink Cartridges and laser toner for photo printing in Australia to cut down on the cost of your prints.

    Setup and data issues

Depending on your camera and your printer software, you'll need to get your photos set up for high quality. The trouble is that some photo software has its own ideas about quality. Older printers can't always work with new software, either, another common problem. The name brand cameras are usually OK for all printers, but the proof is in the print, and that's where the issues usually start.

If you're having problems printing accurately, this is where they'll be. One way around this is to transfer the images to another graphics software which you know does print properly. A simple cut and paste should tell you if it's your camera or printer software which has created the problem.

Matching your settings to photo quality

The dialog box is definitely the first stop in setting up any photo print. Set for Best Photo Quality, and select Print Preview. The preview is a quality control which will show any obvious issues. In some cases it may even show a blank, which means it can't read the data, or simply not print off the camera software, meaning the same thing.

(The simple fix for a "no show" preview is to open the image with Windows Picture Viewer, Adobe Photoshop or Apple Quick Time, which are all-purpose standard print viewers, and you can print off them, whatever software you're using.)

If, however, you're getting a print preview which is OK, the print will define the quality.

    Always test print

A test print need to be done before you waste good quality ink and paper. Use a basic print test of the heads and nozzles to ensure the ink feeds are working properly on plain paper. (Use the Maintenance tab on the print dialog box)

You're currently set up for a Best Photo Quality print. The test should be perfect, with solid lines on all colours. Now, test the photo on a basic print. If it comes out well on plain paper, it'll be great on photo quality paper.

    Perfect match- a great photo

The big advantage of printing your own photos is that you can really go to work on photo album. You can do collages, decorative prints, even create designs for graphics with your photos. This is a lot of fun, and your printer can help you with all of it. Stock up on good printer Cartridges, toner and paper, and have a ball.

Printer Spooler Problems - A Way to Fix Them Without Pain

    Image : http://www.flickr.com

There are several known malicious programs that mask themselves to be legal spooler subsystem app. First of all, you should know, that the legal Spooler is an essential part of Windows. When you click on Print button in some program, Spooler program receives your printing task. In printer spooler app properties you can add or remove current printer jobs. Spooler Subsystem icon appears in your taskbar when you try to print something.

Thanks to Spooler Subsystem App different computers and different users can print their documents on the same printer at the same time. spooler process organizes the list of print jobs into the queue. If spooler service is stopped, printing is impossible. There is a service called spoolsv.exe service that should be always run. Installing printer driver which contains errors or is incompatible with already installed drivers will also cause spooler service stop.

The problem occurs also if spool sv service was stopped by accident or you turn it to Manual or Disabled mode. One of the most common reasons of spoolsv.exe problem is that several printers are installed at the same moment under Windows Vista. If you have spoolso.exe virus, scan your system with recent anti virus. Sometimes (rarely) it can be corrected by reinstalling your printer spooling drivers. Clear printer's job queue before you try to solve Spooler problem.

Locate temporary directories of your printer driver and delete all files with .shd and .spl extensions. It is not recommended to try solve spooler error manually. If you try to solve spooler, things may get even worse. Reinstalling printer drivers sometimes can also lead to total inoperability of spooler subsytem app. Do not install several printer drivers only one computer unless you really need this.

Be careful when editing registry entries of printer spooler job queue as you can harm your system. My email is bombarded with messages from users all over the world regarding printer Spooler Subsystem problems. The most complaints tell about error messages that appear while they try to print something. I receive a lot of requests from users who experience printer Spooler Subsystem App errors.

Remanufactured HP 4100 Printer Cartridges Can Save You Money

    Image : http://www.flickr.com

Without printers that function properly, we could not perform in our offices, workplaces, and companies. printers in turn require toner Cartridges to print properly, since a printer that cannot put ink on the paper is useless. Therefore, the humble printer HP 4100 cartridge is an absolute requirement for any company to run properly.

Printer Cartridges are a necessary cost for most businesses. Since it seems that the cartridge itself is indestructible, we often have to replace the whole cartridge merely because the toner has run out. One simple and painless way to replace the cartridge and lower your company's expenses is to buy remanufactured Compatible toner. Remanufactured cartridges are largely available and are not only great for business but also better for the environment.

Many businesses have been started which specialize in cleaning, repairing, and refilling used cartridges. In this manner HP laserjet 4100 toner is being recycled and used again at a much lower prices to consumers. If you are looking for toner that is compatible with your printer, including the HP LaserJet, you may want to look on the internet. Online merchants will give you the best values for your money whether you need a black and white cartridge or one with colored toner.

Because the quality of remanufactured equals that of new ones, you don't need to think about the wisdom of your purchase. The HP printers in your company work well with compatible HP 4100, including remanufactured cartridges. Why spend money for new toners when remanufactured ones work wonderfully?

If you're still not convinced, then think about the fact that remanufactured HP laserjet 4100 toner and other cartridges do less damage to the environment. Since remanufacturing is a kind of recycling, remanufacturing cartridges keeps them from getting dumped into landfills. As with all things, however, when purchasing remanufactured HP 4100 cartridges, make sure you are buying a good quality supply. Most distributors are very meticulous about quality control, but not all are. Inspect all HP toner cartridges you buy for streaks, scratches, and other problems. These HP 4100 toner cartridges are available in different places, from retail stores to the web. Both ink and toner cartridges are sold in remanufactured form. Prices are generally low, and certainly lower than brand name cartridges. You can locate the lowest prices and widest selection when you search on the net. When doing your toner supply shopping, check them out! Every bit of money saved counts.

How to Fix a Clogged Epson Printer

    Image : http://www.flickr.com

Epson printers have proven to be among the best Inkjet
printers in the world in terms of performance and
economy. That being said, there are also crucial
maintenance requirements to remember when using
    your printer.

Epson printing technology is unique, so it is helpful to
understand some of the basic mechanics of the ink
    delivery system.

The print head built into the carriage. The carriage
holds the ink Cartridges and moves laterally across the
paper when printing. The print head contains
thousands of tiny nozzles that actually squirt the ink onto
paper. The print head is the ink "control center" for the
    printer.

By far, the biggest issue with Epson printers is their
tendency for the print heads to become clogged with
ink. Since the nozzles are (depending on the model) a
fraction of the size of a human hair, it is easy to see how
    clogging can become an issue.

    I. Signs that your printer may be clogged

    A. Full cartridge but no ink coming out on printed paper
    B. Broken or white horizontal lines
    C. Print becomes faint, then disappears completely on
within first page but the cartridge is not empty.
    D. Printed material comes out in one or two colors only

The first and best way to keep your Epson printer in
good condition and free from clogs is to print regularly.
The more you print the less problems you will have.

Printing regularly keeps the ink in the print head moving
and fresh; preventing the ink from drying. Printing at
least a page a week of black text and a page containing
all three colors (cyan, magenta and yellow) is good for
    maintaining top printing performance.

Here is a link to a tune up pattern we recommend to use
once a week if you do not print very often with your
    Epson printer.

    http://www.asapInkjets.com/images/color-bar-test.bmp

The second defense against clogs is to make sure that
you power down your printer using its' power button
instead of the off switch on a power strip. This is
especially important if you do not print at least once a
week. Turning your printer off with your power strip
prevents the printers' built in shut down process from
    sealing the print head.

If the print head is not sealed, the ink will slowly dry and
harden in the print head. Eventually, the ink will dry and
turn to the consistency of maple syrup or even putty.
When this happens, the print head will partially or
    completely clog.

The next preventative tip is to remember to always keep
a cartridge installed in the printer.

If you run out of ink, and take the empty cartridge with
you to your local office supply store, make sure you
replace it promptly. The ink will dry wherever exposed
to the air, including in the ink-receptacle area where you
just removed the cartridge from the carriage.

Try not to take a cartridge out of the carriage unless you
are replacing it within a couple minutes.

If you have received this article a day late and found that
you have a clog, don't despair, there is hope.

Start with the easiest solution, try running a cleaning
cycle using your printer utilities program. A few
cleaning cycles (or cartridge priming cycle) will usually
clear any air bubbles from a cartridge change or a small
    clog from the nozzles.

Select the utility tab (it might also be named
"Maintenance") and there you'll find the head cleaning
tool and nozzle check. Run the head cleaning cycle,
then a nozzle check after to see the progress. Repeat
these two steps 1- 4 times as until clear.

There is said to be a small chance of damaging the print
head if multiple cleanings are performed consecutively
without a nozzle check, so make sure to remember to
    do both

If no success there are still a couple of things you can
    try.

Option # 1. You can try using ammonia (or Windex is ok
also) with a cotton swab. Basically, you'll need to first
remove the cartridge of the color that's giving you
problems. Put some ammonia in the top of the
printhead (the carriage part in the printer) and let it sit
overnight. Also put a little more ammonia in the
printhead-resting seat. (The rubber part that seals off the
printhead unit when in it's resting position.)

You will also take an ammonia dampened cotton swab
and try gently wiping off the bottom part of the printhead
(the end closest to the paper)

You can also take an old, Inkjet cartridge and drill a hole
in it, clean it out with the ammonia, fill it back up with
ammonia and seal the hole. Put the improvised
cleaning back in place and then run a few cleaning
cycles or a long print routine. Then replace with regular
cartridge to see if any progress has been made. Be
warned that this could get messy, so have paper towels
    nearby.

The final option to fix a stubborn clog is to use a specific
cleaner called "Print Head Clog Buster" which is made
    specifically for this purpose.

It's a 1 ounce bottle of cleanser that also comes with a
plastic tube syringe for shooting cleaner directly through
the printhead ports (works much better than a q-tip). It
also comes with detailed instructions on how to use it.
This is specially formulated, and works very well for
    stubborn clogs.

Hopefully this information will keep your Epson printing
    for years to come.

Remember... print weekly, and enjoy your printer for
    years to come.

    Brother HL-2140 Personal Laser Printer

Flat LCD Review Brother HL-2140 Personal Laser Printer

We use three of these printers for a small business. Although the printer is incredibly inexpensive, the cost per page (toner cost) is not the lowest. However this is an ultra reliable printer and the best we've seen for dealing with paper jams. We use the paper feed slot for occasionally printing full page labels and its hands down the easiest to use. We are phasing out our much more expensive Canon and HP laser printers and plan to purchase more of these.
